CFP: 2019 FALL/WINTER ISSUE YONSEI JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL STUDIES


2019 Fall/Winter Issue Yonsei Journal of International Studies
The Yonsei Journal of International Studies (YJIS) is a biannual interdisciplinary journal affiliated with the Center for International Studies and run by the Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies in Seoul, South Korea. The YJIS welcomes submissions from all scholars, especially graduate students and junior professors that fall within the diverse field of International Studies.

We are currently accepting submissions for the upcoming 2019 Fall/Winter issue!

The YJIS encompasses a wide scope of varying disciplines and methodologies, but each issue will attempt to be thematic. The YJIS is divided into three sections, in addition to an interview section managed by the editing staff.

PAPERS
This section includes feature-length articles of original research and must include proper citations. Papers should range from 3,000 to 8,000 words.

ESSAYS
This section includes essays that take stances on issues and develop sophisticated arguments in the form of editorials, recommendations, and reflections. Essays should range from 1,500 to 3,000 words.

REVIEWS
This section focuses on evaluations and reviews of existing arguments contained in essays, articles, and books, in addition to policy reviews or previously published material in the YJIS. Reviews should be no longer than 2,000 words.


All submissions must be formatted in Microsoft Word and include an abstract.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
The following guidelines should be adhered to for all submissions:
  1. All submissions must be sent as a Microsoft Word file.
  2. Citations should appear as footnotes as per the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition. A quick guide is available at the following link.
  3. Pages should not be numbered or marked with the author’s name.
  4. All submissions should include a proposed title. 
  5. Papers and Essays submissions should include an abstract of no longer than 250 words.
  6. A short author biography should also be included with each submission.
  7. Foreign words should be romanized according to the following systems:
    • Japanese: Revised Hepburn
    • Korean: Revised Romanization
    • Chinese: Pinyin
      8. American English spelling and punctuation should be used in all submitted pieces.

Submissions that neglect these guidelines will take further time to review and may be sent back to the author for revisions or rejected altogether.

Each article submitted to the Yonsei Journal of International Studies is blindly peer reviewed. All articles are judged on the basis of relevance to the theme (if applicable), originality, argumentation, and prose. The Editor in Chief holds final authority as to inclusions and rejections of articles for publication.

Editors reserve the right to make changes in accordance with the Journal’s style stipulations during the editing and design process; we assume no obligation regarding publication. The copyrights of published articles remains with the Yonsei Journal of International Studies, and no article may be published in any form without written permission.
