The International Association of Buddhist Studies (IABS) is an association
dedicated to contribute to the development of Buddhist studies in terms
of conferences, symposia and publications. This association wants to
encourage scholarly cooperation and in order to do so, it helps to
organize regional conferences and thematic sypmposia as well as the international congress. Its objectives are as follow: scientific research and communication. Its first conference
was held from September 15 to 17 in 1978.
General
Information:
This congress is the principal
forum for scholars of Buddhism studies to present their research results and it
is held every three years. In order to participate, all the applicants need to
have paid their membership for the year 2020 (More information). However, apart from the membership all the participants must pay
$300 for the registration fee and an optional fee of around $200 in case they
want to participate in a three days tour around famous monasteries in Korea.
